This Taiwanese green tea is reminiscent of a fine oolong, but less oxidized and therefore classified as green. It brews to a light yellow-green color, and the flavor is softly vegetal and buttery. It is worth noting that our Formosa Green can handle very long steepings with little sign of tannin or bitterness.
Formosa, meaning beautiful island, is the original name given to Taiwan by the Portugeuse. Our Formosa Green is produced in the Mingjian village of Nantou county in Taiwan. This entire tea farming community has converted to the organic method so that pesticides will not damage neighboring organic crops. The soil in this region is red, making for healthy, high-quality tea plants.
