Shan Lin Xi is an area in Nantou county, in central Taiwan, a mile above sea level.The cool climate and high altitude put a slight strain on the tea plants, so that they produce a more intense, concentrated tea. They also grow the Qing Xing varietal of tea plants, which is considered to produce excellent oolongs. The area is beautiful and forested; the name Shan Lin Xi translates as "Fir Forest River."
